Hello friends! Today Swirl will be narrating the photostory. Enjoy!
I was bored.
There was so much stuff that we were supposed to be doing! We’d just gotten back from lunch, so we were supposed to be at our daily event. But, it was stormy. You couldn’t have a shaving cream fight when you might get struck by lightning. So, we’d been sent back to our cabins until dinnertime.
“Let’s do something,” Cali sighed. “I don’t want to sit here and do nothing all day.”
“I am doing something,” Sparkles groaned. “It’s called reading. But it’s hard to do with people complaining.”
Cali hopped off her bunk. “Whatch’a reading?” she asked.
“Oh,” Sparkles sighed. “I knew you were going to interrupt my reading.”
“This is a book called Winter. It’s the fourth book in a series about a cyborg Cinderella,” Sparkles explained.
“Since I knew it was going to be raining a lot, I checked out some books from the camp library for you two. I picked out this one for you Cali. It’s called Caraval, and it’s really whimsical. I thought you might like it.”
“I picked out one for you too Swirl,” Sparkles said, producing another book. “It’s full of adventure.”
“I’d rather stare at the ceiling,”
“Well, I appreciate you getting me a book,” Cali told Sparkles. “I’m going to give it a try.
Cali and Sparkles began reading their books. I was back to being bored.
“Psst!” I hissed at Cali. “Bored yet?”
She was so immersed in her book that she ignored me.
“Oh well,” I sighed.
I glanced at the book Sparkles had gotten for me. “It’s better than nothing, I guess.”
Part of me wanted to do literally anything else, but I was running low on things to do.
Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down! The book was that good.
Hours passed and I was still reading. Cali and Sparkles had set their books aside.
“Don’t you want to come to dinner?” Cali asked.
“I’m good,” I mumbled, not bothering to look up from my book.
“You can bring your book to dinner,” Sparkles added.
I hoppped out of bed.
“Well, in that case…”
As we walked into the main hall, I turned to Sparkles.
“Thank you for picking out this book for me. I really, really love it,” I told her.
“I knew you would,” Sparkles replied.
What’s your favorite book?
