Hello friends! It’s the penultimate post of Camp, which is kind of bittersweet for me. I’m sad that camp is ending, but I’m also ready to move on to new things. And Camp will return! *cheers*
Anyway, here’s the time to showcase all the things you guys sent in! I think I got more photos than ever and I’m ecstatic about that! I can’t wait for you guys to see what everyone came up with.
First things first, I mentioned a contest earlier right? Yup! The final contest is a graphic design contest! You guys will be designing a featured image/theme for next years camp! I’ll need those emailed to worldofagdollsblog(at)gmail(dot)com by August 7th. You guys are pretty much just given creative liberty. You want to hand draw the logo? Go for it! Theme it around porcupines? Go ahead. Anything you feel will look good as the logo next year. I’ll then share all the designs and you guys can vote on the best! Get designing!
Speaking of contests, the first thing I have for y’all today is this entry to my story contest from Alexa! Enjoy!
Summer was my favorite season. I loved the sun, the popsicles, and the laughter. I loved the heat. I loved the freedom. My favorite thing was jumping into our backyard pool. In my opinion, swimming was the best part of summer.
Until my little brother drowned in our pool.
He silently slipped away. Away from the world, away from my parents’ lives, and away from my life.
I still wonder if there was something I could’ve done. Maybe I could’ve walked out of the house sooner. Maybe I could have seen him. Saved him.
“We’re so sorry, Deliyah. We’re so sorry. We are here for you.” My friends would say. They begged me to smile again. But all I really wanted was to curl up in a ball and cry. Cry for the things I’ve lost. And that’s what I did. I rarely ate. I rarely saw my friends. My skin rarely saw the sun.
I felt alone. Cold, dark, and alone.
It’s been awhile now. A while since the accident. I tell myself I need a change. I need to love summer again. Before it falls away from me too.
For the first time in a long time, I go outside. I lay in the grass. The next day, I eat a popsicle. And before I know it, I’m dipping my feet in the water. Then my legs. Soon, I find myself all the way in the pool. And I remember how much I love this feeling. How much I love this season.
This summer, I’m healing. Mending everything that’s broken.
Wasn’t that beautiful? The next thing I have for you is this photo, also from Alexa.
Here’s a picture I took with my friend Bear and his registration form! He’s so excited!
Aw, well I sure hope Bear had a nice stay at camp! His form is so cute!
From Rayna, I have some more registration forms!
Rayna also sent in a photo of this book she made from my tutorial! I love it!
One of the letters for home.
Suzy and Sandy were in the red group for the colour war.
A quick lil’ counselor’s meeting.
annnnd finally, sleeping under the stars!
Hurray Rayna! I love those.
Jiggly made a “reasons why I love you card” and a heart for her mother and her brother to show how much she loves them. Ariel, her mom and Ducky her brother were both delighted to see the crafts!
Roshni also made a digital scrapbook page! Look how adorable it is!
Now it’s time for Liz’s crafts! She made a bunch, and she even won the contest!
This batch is from the same tutorial as earlier.
From the DIY Passport post.
DIY Stationary. (look at the fun letter!)
(also look, she put her real address, oh nooo!)
Kaley sent in a bunch of photos too! Her stuffies look like they had a blast!
Here they all are. From left to right: Tasha, Cinnamon Bun, Leona, Glamoura, Apple Jack, Fruit Loop, Shamra, and Tigoo.
The first set of siblings are Tasha and Cinnamon Bun, the Leopard twins.
Then there’s the Spot kids. Apple Jack is the oldest and everyone knows, just like no one can question Glamoura’s rights to youngest.
Shamara is way older than Tigoo. Tigoo was barley old enough to come to Camp, but because Shamra’s a counselor, they let her stay with her sister.
Three Spot siblings packed well...
… One may have overpacked
Tasha and Cinnamon Bun are ready to go!
On their way!
Shamra packed for both her and her sister.
Which included packing Tigoo.
Tigoo likes to climb, by the way.
They brought a telescope, but it was day so they couldn’t see anything.
Tigoo learned a couple chords while she was at camp.
Glamoura worked more on her flute skills
Shamra got talked into joining the preformance…
Who says cats can’t like pandas?
“I am not a cat. I am a panda.”
So sad to leave!
Also, D sent in a poem that Mr. Pink Monk wrote about camp. Enjoy A Monk’s Ode to Camp Happy Heart!
‘Twas a sunny day – the sunlight
Penetrating my soul and blinding sight,
That heralded summer for the better.
Off to Camp Happy Heart did I flee,
Leaving behind my bleak world
For a realm where joy soared free.
Many an acquaintance did I make, and
Comrades – several did I befriend.
As we partook in quests that
Displayed bravery and loyalty,
Reducing us to children –
Innocence brimming and hearts gleeful.
In love and beauty have we grown,
For Camp beloved, has rendered –
Our hearts and souls; truly content.
With pride and gratitude, do I
Bid you a farewell,
Oh, Camp – where dwell the happiest of hearts!
For the very thought of returning
Shall sustain joy forevermore!
Mr. Pink Monk
Here is a photo Eeshani sent in of her stuffie’s Foxy and Penelope!
Hurray! I loved everyone’s pictures. Thank you all for participating in camp! I can’t wait for next year.
Stay tuned for our recap of camp tomorrow!
