Skipping Stones Episode 1 “Fame, Fortune, and Love?”

Hello friends!

I am beyond excited to share today’s post with you! Lots of blood, sweat, and tears went into this post.

I really wanted to get this post up in August, but it’s okay. I think it turned out amazing anyway. Remember how I mentioned a BAB sitcom back in May? It’s finally here!

This pilot episode is a celebration of BABF reaching 300 followers. And…since we’re at about 350, let’s just call it an early celebration of 400. (if we ever get there)

Anyway, I think this episode is something I can be proud of. My early readers said that it even made them laugh!

Basically, I’m really excited about this. And…you might get to see something I’ve been hinting at for a while. Let’s get started!

“Ding!” A ping sounds from Mischief’s phone. He gives the notification a few seconds of attention before bursting into song. “We’re famous, we’re famous, we’re FAMOUS!”

Mischief runs up to his cousin Cloud.

“I have news.”

Cloud wrinkles his brow. “What?”

“We’re FAMOUS!” Mischief waves his phone in front of Cloud’s face. “Look! We have 300 followers.”

Cloud’s eyes widen. “300? We are famous!”

The boys each place their arm around the other’s shoulder. Trotting through the house, they begin lightly singing, “We’re famous, we’re famous, we’re FAMOUS!”

Cali looks at them curiously. “What do you mean?”

Cloud shoots an incredulous look her way. “Don’t you know? We have 300 followers!”

“How was I supposed to know when he didn’t even know for five minutes? I’m always the last to know everything.”

Cali shrugs. “Cool.”

Mischief violently shakes his head. “Cool?! Just cool? We’re the most famous bears in the entire world!”

“Hold on,” Candy asks, butting her way into the conversation. “You mean to tell me I have 300 loyal fans and I’m only just now hearing about it?”

“This is unacceptable!”

Bella sighs as she sits at her dressing table. She glances over at Peri. “This scene is taking forever!” she complains.

Peri nods. “Andy seems on edge for some reason today. I wonder why.”

“I know exactly why…”

“Ugh, I just wish we could get this over with. I mean, all he has to say is ‘There’s a science to prove that it’s painless.’ How many more times do we have to hear ‘There’s a science to prove that it’s pantless?’” Bella groans.

Peri stifles a giggle. “Well, why don’t you ask him if there’s something on his mind?”

Bella shrugs. “I suppose. It can’t hurt.”

Candy lies on her side, drawing attention to herself. “I can see it now, someday I’ll have my name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!”

She dreamily stares off into the distance.

“Is she okay?” Cam asks.

Cloud rolls his eyes.

“When you’ve lived with Candy as long as I have, you get used to her being dramatic.”

“She’s fine.”

He snaps his fingers in front of her face. “Candy?”

“Oh! It’s my personal butler! Please fetch me some caviar!” Candy replies.

Cam makes a face. “Caviar? Blech.”

Candy scoffs. “Some people just don’t have an exquisite sense of taste like myself.”

We interrupt this program to share a very special message!

Bananas are yummy!

And good for you! So buy one!

Or two!

Or three even!

They multipyyyyyyyyyy.

Bella softly knocks on the door to Andy’s dressing room.

“Come in,” a muffled voice calls.

Bella enters, and Andy’s jaw drops, but he quickly regains his composure.

“Oh, uh, what are you doing here?” he asks, flustered. “Not that you can’t be in here, but I mean, you’ve never come in here before, and uh…why are you here?”

Sighing, Bella replies, “Are you okay? You seemed very anxious on set today.”

He shrugs. “Have you ever had a thing that you really wanted to do but you were terrified to do?”

Bella sits beside Andy.

He covers a blush by looking at the ground.

“I had that feeling when I was looking to adopt. Peri encouraged me a lot. I just knew that I was meant to be a mom, and I wasn’t going to let anything stop me. Not even being single,” she chuckles. “I know most people would think it’s crazy for a single woman with a hectic job to adopt two children, but it’s worked out so well for me. Not only have I had a ton of support, but I also can’t imagine life without my kids.”

As Bella says these words, her passion is visible across her face.

“I…I think I love her,”

“Yeah,” Andy says, his eyes trained on Bella.

“So anyway,” Bella shifts topics. “What is it you need to do?”

Andy flinches. “Oh, it’s nothing really. Certainly nothing as big as adopting a kid.”

Bella smiles. “Okay. Just…try not to mess up your lines again?”

Andy grins. “Duly noted.”

“Family meeting!” Sandy calls.

Chip narrows his eyes. “Only Mommy can call family meetings.”

Sandy huffs. “Mommy’s not here, and I’m in charge!”

With Mischief and Cam having returned home, only the seven Stone children remain. As Sandy requested, everyone gathers in the living room for a family meeting.

“Okay, we’ve got some serious things to talk about,” Sandy begins. “Candy, why do you think you’re famous?”

“Because I am!” she shouts in reply.

Sandy buries her face in her hands.

“Anyone have any ideas?”

Cloud sheepishly raises his hand. “I may have an idea,”

“Please share it with the rest of us Cloud,” Sandy condescendingly requests.

“Well, we reached 300 followers on the blog,” Cloud remarks. “Mischief and I might have made a bigger deal of that than it is.”

Sandy nods. “Well, that is pretty incredible…”

“Yeah, but you aren’t famous Candy,” Chip replies, eager to contradict Sandy.

“But, but!”

Candy sighs. “Really?”

Her six siblings nod.

“Sorry to break it to you,” Cloud adds.

“Oh,” Candy dejectedly says. “I guess I’ll just have to work a bit harder.”

Cali and Cloud exchange a look. They both know that Candy’s idea of work involves dressing up and doing nothing.

“Perhaps you’ll be famous one day,” Chip replies. “But for now, you still have us.”

The Stone siblings gather together in a group bear hug.

Oh, sorry! I didn’t see you there. I was just working on my push-ups.

Wait, what? My commercial time is almost up! Oh, um, sponsor Cam for boot camp 2022!

“Phew,” Bella plops herself down on the chair in the women’s dressing room. “I’m so glad we got that scene over with!”

Peri giggles. “What? You didn’t like having to re-do it twelve times?”

Bella rolls her eyes. “Not in the least.”

After moving to the floor, she pats the seat beside her and Peri joins her.

“What do you think Andy was so nervous about?” Bella asks.

Peri looks straight into the camera, grinning from ear to ear.

“No idea,” she innocently replies.

Just then, a soft tapping occurred on the dressing room door.

“Come in,” Peri calls.

The door creaks open to reveal a blushing Andy, holding a bouquet of roses. His eyes stray toward the floor.

“Um,” he swallows, unable to compose himself.

“Is there something you’d like to say?” Peri winks.

Andy nods. “Um, I was wondering if…” He looks up at Bella but shyly looks away.

“I guess I wanted to know if…you wanted to go to dinner? With me, I mean.”

Bella softly grins as the realization hits her.

“Is that why you were so nervous today?”

Andy softly nods.

“Well, you don’t need to be nervous about me. I’d love to go out to dinner with you,” Bella smiles.

Pure joy washes across Andy’s face.

Ahhh! Episode one of Skipping Stones is complete! I really hope you enjoyed, and please leave a like and comment if you did. That way, there will be more of this series!
