Skipping Stones Episode 8 “Girls Night and Candy’s Delight”

Hello friends! I hope you’re all having a lovely Friday.

I’ve spent the majority of the day preparing this post for you all, so I hope you enjoy! I will be introducing a new bear, so keep an eye out for her!

Periwinkle puts on a nice dress. She’s going out tonight, for the first time in a long time. Being a mom of seven, she doesn’t normally get very much time to herself. Tonight, however, tonight is girls’ night. Her sisters and friends are going to drop their kids off at her house. These women have been looking forward to this night for a long time.

“You look very nice tonight Mommy,” Candy compliments.

“Thank you Candy,” Peri accepts the compliment. “That’s very sweet of you.”

“I’m trying to be extra nice so she won’t notice I swiped her credit card. I need new clothes!”

Lil Choc comes into the room and kisses his wife on the cheek. “You look lovely dear.”

Peri blushes. “Thank you. Are you sure it’s alright to leave the all the kids here? I don’t want to inconvenience you guys.”

“They’re old enough to where they don’t need much attention. Besides, Adeline will do most of the work.”

“Translation, Adeline will do all the work. Why else would I agree to hire a nanny? I’ll be too busy watching football.”

The Stone’s living room is utter chaos. In addition to the seven children who reside in the Stone household, there are eight children being dropped off by their mothers.

“I never realized I would be agreeing to watch so many children. I had better call in some backup.

“Cora? I am going to need some assistance.”

“I’m gonna have to bring Azura, is that okay?”

“I will take one additional child if it means I have another adult here. I cannot handle fifteen children alone!”

“I’ll be right over.”

The women thank Adeline profusely.

“You don’t know how long it’s been since I had a night out,” Bella wearily says.

“Call us if you need anything.” Starburst hands a list of phone numbers to Adeline.

The girls don’t take long with their goodbyes. They are ready to make the most of their evening.

“If we don’t get out now, we never will.”

As they walk through the door, Bella introduces a friend to the group. “This is Ginger, a friend from work. Ginger, this is my sister Peri, my other sister Starburst, Clarice, and Cokie.

“Hi everyone,” Ginger introduces herself. “I’m a receptionist at the hospital. I also like to read.”

“That’s cool,” Starburst replies. “What do you like to read?”

“Mostly classical literature.”

“I studied literature in college.”

With a new friend in their midst, the girls headed to their first activity of the night – dinner.

“I’m selling a new product, a product that everyone needs.”

“I know you’re all thinking…what makes my product better? Well for one thing, mine is ten times more expensive. So obviously it’s better.”

“My product is…water! But this is special water. I got it from my tap, but that isn’t all. I added a special tablet for purification and emphasized flavor. My water is also healthier than other waters. If you drink my water, you don’t need to eat any vegetables or exercise.”

“Order water now for $100 a gallon. You can get this water at Enjoy!”

“Psst,” Candy whispers to Mischief. “Do you want to order a pizza?”

Mischief sighs. “I don’t have enough money.”

Candy smirks. “I stole Mommy’s credit card.”

Mischief’s eyes light up. “In that case, I think we each need a personal pizza. Twenty should do.”

“I want to order them all at separate times to create the most chaos.”

“Nah, I don’t feel like spending money on the others. Just me. I only offered some pizza to you because I don’t want to eat a whole pie by myself. But I can find someone else if you don’t want any.”

“Oh, well I’ll still take some!”

“I’ve got some orders to make.”

The women sit at their table, finishing up their meal. Bella reaches for her wallet only to realize…

“I forgot my wallet,”

Peri pats her sister. “It’s alright. I’ll cover you.”

The waitress comes to collect the bill. “How would we like to split this?”

“Actually, I’ll take care of this,” Peri offers. “I want to thank you all for coming out with me this evening.”

Peri reaches into her purse to grab her wallet.

“Luckily, I didn’t forget my wallet.”

Peri opens her wallet. She is startled because her wallet is empty!

“One of my kids is going to be in so much trouble…”

“Well ladies, it looks like I can’t get dinner after all,” Peri sighs.

The women look around the table. None of them want to seem stingy, but some of them aren’t in a position to cover the tab.

The waitress looks around expectantly. “Look, either y’all pay or y’all gotta spend the evening washing our dishes.”

The women look around.

“It’s not my ideal way to spend a girls’ night, but it would be fun to do with these gals.”

“Are your kids stupid?”

whispers from the director

“Okay, I’m not actually allowed to use that word. I mean…are your kids struggling in school?”

“Yes? Awesome!”

more whispers

“Er, I mean…we have a solution for you!”

“Cam’s Tutoring Services are available for all elementary school children. I’ll help your kid pass their classes and learn things!”

“All profits go towards Cam’s fund to join the Army. So it’s for a good cause!”

“Mischief, don’t flush all the toilet paper down the toilet!” Adeline screams.

“I have to prepare for the Great Toilet Paper Shortage of 2023 by storing some extra TP in the pipes.”

The doorbell rings. Adeline rushes to open it, trying to keep the peace between the kids while she did so.

“Pizza delivery!”

“How did those children order a pizza?”

“I do not think we ordered a pizza.” Adeline replies.

Candy strides up to the door. “That’s mine, thank you.”

Adeline stares as Candy takes the pizza.

“Where did you get the money to pay for that?”

Candy shrugs. “Mommy’s wallet.”

“Candy!” Adeline gasps. “That is wrong! How could you?”

“I wanted a credit card and Mommy wouldn’t get one for me so I got my own.”

“Is there something wrong with that?”

“You took her credit card!” Adeline gasps. “Hand me your phone…what else did you order?”

Candy shrugs, handing the phone over. “Not much. Just a new laptop, phone, AirPods, some makeup and perfume from Sephora, you know. The basic necessities of life.”

“Candy,” Adeline asks with a harsh tone. “How much did you spend?”

“Oh, only about $3000.”

Adeline looks toward Cora. “Cora?” she said sweetly. “Would you mind watching the other kids for a few minutes. Candy and I are going to take a walk.”

“I think I’m about to be murdered.”

The women smudge soap on each other. Their nice clothing is soaked with dishwater, but they don’t seem to care.

“You really burnt the turkey on Thanksgiving?” Ginger laughed.

Peri nodded. “I know! I can’t believe I did that.”

“What about the time you burnt the cake for the Office Christmas Party?” Bella wagged her finger. “Don’t act so innocent.”

Ginger blushed. “Okay fine. But to be fair, Thanksgiving is the most important holiday of the year!”

“Fall is the most important season.”

“I don’t know about that…” Clarice interjects. “I’d have to vote for Christmas.”

“Let’s agree to disagree,” Bella decides. She knows how heated this debate can get.

The women stop talking to focus on finishing the dishes.

“So maybe this evening didn’t go according to plan. But we had fun. I can’t be too mad. But whoever took my credit card is still going to be grounded for a month.”

Candy nervously trails behind Adeline.

“What you did was wrong Candy,” Adeline explains. “You can’t just take someone else’s money and use it for your own purchases.”

“But it was Mommy’s money! She buys me things all the time!”

“I don’t see how I did anything wrong.”

Adeline pursed her lips. “Just because your mom gives you things sometimes doesn’t mean she wants to give you everything. You need to earn things.”

“But what does Mommy do to earn her money?”

Adeline shakes her head. “She shares money with your dad. He has a job. Do you have a job?”

Candy nods. “It’s called looking cute. And I think I’m in need of a raise.”

“I give up with that child.”

“I’ll let your mom handle this…” Adeline rolls her eyes. “Let’s get back home.”

“I think I just got out of being punished.”

Once Periwinkle gets home…

“Candy! Did you steal my credit card and spend $3000?” Peri yells.

“I am so dead.”

    1. Hmm, I don’t know! I think it might be just a fictional thing, but I’m sure it started somewhere. Maybe at some point in time it was a policy.
Thank you! xD, that would be funny if someone randomly came across that site.
      Haha! Yeah…she’s in big trouble.
