Zoom Birthday Party ~ Collab with PottahWand

Hello, hello friends! Today, you’re in for a special birthday celebration. Featuring the one and only, PottahWand! Enjoy this little story told from Cali’s perspective.

“Candy! Do you even know what you’re doing?” Sandy scoffed.

“Almost…”

A connection was made as a close up of a bear appeared on the screen.

She backed away, and joined Oliver.

“Happy Birthday!” the two greeted in unison. “We’ve got something very special for you.”

“Hi!” I greeted, a little confused. My birthday wasn’t until the 14th. “Wait, what is it? It’s no one’s birthday today, is it?”

Had I forgotten someone’s birthday?

“Well, we thought that those who are HAVING their birthdays in April might want to have a Zoom party…?” Oliver grinned.

“YES!”

“COOL!”

My siblings all shouted something different. I cringed. Zoom meetings weren’t known for their reliability, and I was certain our audio didn’t go through.

“Guys, one at a time,” I hissed at my siblings.

“Now, we were going to wear some birthday hats, but we couldn’t find any, so…”

Our attention was drawn back to the computer screen. Oliver left and returned a few moments later.

Oliver came back wearing a black hat. I felt the party hat Cloud had placed on my head earlier. That made a lot more sense knowing that we were celebrating birthdays. 

“Right,” Isla smiled. “Time for presents! Chip, it’s yours first.”

“As it should be. I am the oldest after all,” He bragged, looking rather proud of himself.

Sandy gave him the side-eye.

Isla disappeared from the screen, returning a few moments later with two tickets.

“Okay, I know you’re more into peaceful things, but I thought you’d have fun if you went climbing in the trees, with some obstacles!”

“Woah, this is awesome! I can’t wait to go! I bet my neighbor Cam would love to go with me,” Chip grinned.

Cloud looked at the ground. I knew he would have loved to go with Chip.

“Now you, Sandy!” I told her, “You like to paint and draw, right? Well, do ya think you like this?” Isla produced a large art case, with pencils, paints, oil pastels and more.

She gasped, then took in the sight of the art supplies.

“This is incredible! You really didn’t have to. I, don’t know what to say!”

Our friends showed Cherie her present next. It was a lovely set of classic children’s books.

Cherie began to cry. “This is so kind of you! I can’t wait to read these.”

Cherry was up next. The gift for her was a coloring puzzle and colored pencils.

“Oh, um, I guess these are okay.” she replied. I knew that that gift was nothing like she was expecting. Cherry was an active little girl, and she didn’t like to stay still.

“April Fools!” our pals shouted. “This is your actual gift,”

Cherry’s present was a set of dress up clothes. She grinned wide.

“Oh! These are so much better! I didn’t want to hurt your feelings, but coloring’s kinda boring…”

I felt a twinge of excitement. I was up next. The other gifts had been so thoughtful, and I couldn’t wait to find out what they’d chosen for me.

For me, Isla and Oliver got a set of fairytales.

“For me? These are perfect! I love them so much! Y’all are great friends…” I remarked. Fairytales were amazing.

Isla clapped. “Game time!”

We engaged in a game of Would You Rather. It was quite fun, until…

“Why didn’t I get any presents?” Candy butted in. I scowled at her. Our friends had been so kind to us, and all she could think about was herself?

“I… we’ll get you a present when it’s your birthday!” Oliver said helpfully.

“But I want a present now!” she complained under her breath. I elbowed her and glared at her. “Don’t ruin this,” I said with my eyes.

The incident did little to disrupt my gleeful mood. This was so nice! I had awesome friends, awesome siblings, and a birthday coming up. The games we played kept my attention and we soon lost track of time.

“Well, we’ve gotta run! We’re mailing the presents to you, and you’ll probably get them in a week or so. Bye bye!!!” Isla said, cutting our meeting short. We said goodbye and disconnected from Zoom.

I looked to my siblings, “That was so much fun,”

Though no one replied, I knew they agreed. It truly was the best birthday party I’d ever had.

Happy (almost) Birthday to these five bears! The Stones have truly impacted my life in a way that I could have never anticipated. From reserved, nature-loving Chip, creative (and slightly bossy) Sandy, timid Cherie, active Cherry, materialistic Candy, Cali the dreamer, and Darth Mohawk(Cloud), these bears have truly meant the world to me. I cannot wait to see where they go next!
