Episode 7.5 (the Christmas Special)

I was eating a bowl of soup when Tori told me.

“Mr. Man asked for you specifically to come to LoS headquarters.”

I splattered my soup all over my shirt. “Why?”

“He wouldn’t say. He claimed it was confidential.”

“Oh no…”  I thought. Mr. Man was a telepath, who just so happened to be my boss. If he knew the things that I’d told to Pyro, I was doomed. I would probably be fired at best, and imprisoned at worst.

“Okay,” I gulped.

We flew to LoS headquarters. I was quiet for most of the ride there.

“Are you okay Lauren?” Andy asked.

“Hm?” I asked from my dazed state.

“It’s not like you to be so quiet.”

I shook my head. “I guess I’m just nervous about meeting with Mr. Man. You don’t think he wants to fire me, do you?”

“It didn’t seem that way on the phone,” Tori reassured. “He just said it was urgent.”

Oh no. So, that meant the other thing. My heart raced. “I think I’m going to lie down until we get there then,”

“Okay,” Tori replied, checking the flight log. “We have 20 minutes left.”

I shakily went to my quarters and took a rest. Who knew when I’d get the chance to sleep on a comfortable bed again?

Turbulence awakened me. I jolted out of bed and prepared for my meeting with Mr. Man.

Tori led me to his office. I cautiously stepped in, closing the door behind me. I was determined to think and act like normal, in case this was about something else. I let my mind wander to the last time I was in this office.

“You’ve changed a lot since then,” Mr. Man added. Mind readers were no fun.

“Good or bad?” I asked.

“Good. You’re becoming a real asset to LoS.”

I breathed a small sigh of relief.

“Is that why I’m here today?”

“Today, you’re here because of Pyro.”

I sighed. “I know that was a stupid decision to go into that building. I don’t know why I did it!” I apologized.

“It was reckless and you and others could have been hurt or even killed!” Mr. Man reprimanded. “But it worked. Pyro is in a holding cell currently asking for you by name.”

“Pyro’s here?” I blurted out. “Has she been neutralized?”

“No. She claims she wants to work for LoS,” Mr. Man exclaimed. “And she wants to speak to you.”

I frowned. What would Pyro want to speak with me about?

I nodded. “Lead the way.”

I followed Mr. Man throughout corridors until we got to Pyro’s cell.

“Remember that the cell is fireproof, but the inside is not,” he reminded.

“So, don’t make her mad?”

I stepped into the room. “Hello?”

“I’ve been waiting for you. I want to join this little organization,” Pyro announced.

“You want to join LoS?” I asked in disbelief.

Pyro gave me a look. “Do these cameras have audio?” she whispered.

“No,” I replied.

“I want to join LoS undercover. I’m a part of a group of rogue supers who want to tear down LoS and build a better organization in it’s place,” she explained.

I pressed my lips. “Why are you telling me this?”

“Because you agree that LoS is a corrupt organization. We’re going to take it down together.”

“Okay, just answer me one question first. I never told you my name. How did you know?”

Pyro grinned. “Your necklace.”

I looked down at my locket. “My mother gave this to me. I’ve had it for years,”

“Exactly. It’s one of a kind dear. I know because I made it for your mother,”

I glanced quizzically at her. “You knew my mother?”

“Not ‘knew.’ Know.”

“Take me to her!” I exclaimed. “And if you’re telling the truth, I’ll join you in taking down LoS.”

Pyro grinned. “That can be arranged.”

Hehe, sorry about that little cliffhanger there! See you next month for the season finale.

Also! Please comment any questions you have about Aftershock or even just the blog in general. I’ll be doing a red carpet Q&A with the cast after the season finale. I’m hoping for a good turnout with it. So, please ask some questions about Aftershock to me and the series’s cast!

(EX. To Peri – How do you balance mothering with acting in Aftershock?)

(Feel free to ask that exact question. I kind of want to answer it…)

Anyway, I’ll remind you guys about the Q&A later, but please go ahead and ask some questions!

P.S. Here are some Rocket bloopers!

Aftershock s1 is now a wrap! Read the finale here, and expect s2 in August!

  1. Yee, this is getting so good, Diamond! I’m getting really intrigued.
Ooh, a red carpet Q&A is the coolest idea. Here are my questions:

To Peri – how do you balance mothering with acting in Aftershock? (hehe.) What was you favourite thing about acting Lauren? Is Lauren an introvert or an extrovert?
To all the BAB MCs – who is your favourite character in the story? Did any of you wish you acted another character from the series?
To any one of the bears – favourite episode?

      Thank you!
Ooh, what a unique question! I absoutely love it!
(In all seriousness though, those are great questions and I can’t wait for the bears to answer them.)
